Beginners course in outdoor life
Do you have a desire to get started with outdoor life but don't really know where to start? In this workshop you will learn the basics of outdoor life with the aim that after the course you will feel safe enough to live camp life with family, friends or on your own. Our experienced instructors share their best tips about equipment and give solid advice about handling it and preparing for the trip. If you have your own equipment that you want to test, we will help you with it. The content is adapted to the participants' previous experiences and knowledge. Some of the topics covered are: - "Allemansrätten" (what is allowed/not allowed) - Clothing (3 basic principles) - Setting up a tent or a tarp - How to use an outdoor stove - Other important sleeping equipment (sleeping bag and sleeping mat) - Fire ( make up, keep alive, put out) - Handle a knife - Sleep outside (routines and tips)

Please note
Bring seating pad, clothes according to the weather, coffee and a water bottle. If you have your own equipment that you want to test/get advice on, you are welcome to bring it. During the winter months, a headlamp is recommended.

Since 2018, Naturens Hemligheter (Secrets of Nature) offer workshops in outdoor cooking and bushcraft. Our workshops are suited for individual and small groups as well as for companies and organizations. Linus Palmqvist is a wilderness chef with a Degree of Bachelor of Arts in Preschool Education from the university of Stockholm. He has excellence in outdoor education and leadership and over 25 years of outdoor experience as a scout. Andreas Fjällman is a preschool teacher and elementary school teacher from the university of Stockholm. He has been a scout since childhood and has over 20 years of experience in leading groups in outdoor activities. Joacim Norberg is a teacher in art and crafts from the university of Linköping, Joacim is skilled in woodwork and forging as well as in textiles and the preparation, coloring and use of wool. He has a genuine interest for using historical techniques and applying these in his work.
